A survey was carried out on the state of delivery and the practice of the contracep-tive method with the family planning records of 1, 182 fertilizable women in Chung-nam province.
The results are summarized as follows
1. The distribution of the marital age showed 54.32%, 20-24 years, followed by 27.58% age of less than 19 years, 16. 24% of 25-29 years and 1. 86% age more than 30 years.
2. The distribution of the first delivery age showed 51. 52% 20^24 years, followed by 41.12% of 25^29 years, 6. 09% of less than 19 years and 1. 27% age more than 30, years.
3. The total number of pregnancy from 1, 182 women was 7627(average 6.4), of the 1, 736 (average 4.6) in the cities, 2, 209 (average 7.3) in the towns and 2, 982 (average 7.6 )in the village.
4. The total number of the respondents who had delivered live births was 4, 516 (av-erage 3.8) of the 1, 208 (average 3.0 %) in the city, 1, 581 (average 4.0) in the town and 1, 727 (average 4. 0) in the village.
5. The total number of the respondents who had experienced induced abortion was 2, 282, of the 1, 280 (average 3. 3) of the respondents in city, 885 (average 2. 3) of the town and 657 (average 1.7)of them in the village.
Urban women had proportionately more abortions each than rural women. This result shows that the induced abortion prevalent for the method of birth control.
6. 5.74% of all respondents did not know the family planning and contraceptive methods. 31.81% of the respondents who received information of one contraceptive meth-ods, followed by 27.5% of the respondents two methods, 18.35% of the respondents three methods and 9.39% of the respondents four methods.
7. As the commonly used contraceptive method was the condom, 31.98% followed by the oral pills 15.0%, the rhythm methods 95.00/0 and the loop 11.4%.
8. 29.0%(330 women)of the respondents suffered from side reactions with practice of the contraceptive methods.
Among of them, the city women showed the side-reactions 27.9% town 33. 0°o, and village 39.10/6, respectively.
